stamp making

i'd been looking at a number of my embossing folders 

thinking what lovely stamps they would make.

so i had a search online for something i could 

'emboss' that i could then use as a stamp.

liquid latex???

i taped down an embossing folder onto a tray, 

and poured some liquid latex over the pattern.

after this had set i added a second layer and left 

it for a week.

then the exciting bit, i peeled the latex from the folder

 and apart from a few bubbles, it was pretty good.

tim holtz 'textured fades' bubbles and dot matrix.

they wouldn't be any good to use on a block, 

as i didn't get them  level.

but they did work quite well with 'dylusions' sprays!

i also used a couple a masks from 'prima'

lava lamp and corona bubbles.

apart from a couple of hard lines, 

not a bad second attempt at 'dylusions'!

 arrived from the states this week.

this was my first attempt...

i think i'm addicted!

although i need to find a bigger craft sheet, 

as i got ink everywhere!!!

new year tag

manila tag embossed using 'crafters workshop' stencil - time 
travel.  tag inked with blending tool using 'distress ink' ripe 
persimmon, broken china and walnut stain and edges distressed.

'bigz' gadget gears cut from grunge paper, painted with 
black acrylic paint and then 'distress crackle'
 brushed pewter, tarnished brass and antiqued bronze.  
gears adhered to tag and trimmed.

manila card stamped with words from 'tim holtz' stamp set 
fairytale frenzy and stamp from 'indigoblu' sarah's choice
 using 'archival ink' jet black.  card cut to size,
 distressed and fixed to tag using shaker tape.

'idea-ology' film strip fixed to tag using wonder tape and 
trimmed to size.  

calender ticket from 'tim holtz' stamp set odds and ends, stamped 
onto manila card using 'archival ink' jet black and cut using 
'decorative strip'  ticket strip die.  ticket distressed and 
inked using 'distress ink' broken china and walnut stain.
  'jan' and '1' ringed using red pen and ticket fixed to tag with 
distressed bulldog clip.

'2013' embossed onto red 'dymo' tape and glued in place with 
3d glue.

'idea-ology' sprocket gears, mini gears and game spinner fixed to  
centre of gadget gears using paper fasteners.

crinkle ribbon stamped with calender ticket from earlier using 
'archival ink' jet black, coloured with 'distress ink' weathered 
wood, distressed and then tied through top of tag.

xmas tags

blue tag

manila tag and crinkle ribbon coloured with 'distress stain'
 broken china and brushed pewter, then flicked with 'cosmic shimmer' sliver lustre.  

crinkle ribbon and silver 'tinsel twine' tied though tag. tag distressed and adhered to a card made from distressed 'core-dinations'.
silver 'tinsel twine' fastened to card using mini staples.
'tissue tape' symphony added above tinsel.

'idea-ology' woodlands tree base cut in half and 
painted with 'liquid pearls' bisque.
  ends of bristles coated with glue and dipped in iridescent glitter.  bristles moved to front of tree and tree glued to tag.

'joy' cut from 'idea-ology' mirrored using
 'bigz' word play die and adhered over tissue tape. 
'idea-ology' snowflake glued in place with matte medium.

red tag

manila tag and crinkle ribbon coloured using 'distress stain'
 festive berries and tarnished brass.

crinkle ribbon tied through tag, tag distressed and adhered to a card made from distressed 'core-dinations'.

plain card covered with 'tissue wrap' terminology, die cut using 'decorative strip' festive greenery. die cuts coloured with 'distress ink' evergreen bough, mowed lawn, iced spruce and festive berries,
 then covered with 'distress stickles' rock candy.
 flourish coloured with 'distress stain' tarnished brass.
festive greenery glued to tag using 3d glue.

'joy to the world' cut from 'core-dinations' using 'decorative strip' stacked words christmas and glued to distressed 'idea-ology' journaling ticket using 3d glue.  journaling ticket then glued to tag.

remembrance tag

'crafty secrets' poppy, stamped using 'archival' jet black.

coloured using 'distress reinkers', festive berries, evergreen bough, mowed lawn and shabby shutters, wet in wet.

after drying, clean water flicked on for a mottled effect.

edge of tag distressed and inked using 'distress' vintage photo.

'remember', cut from manilla card, 

using 'alterations decorative strip' upon a time alphabet,

 adhered to tag and covered with 'glossy accents'.

piece of hessian (burlap), frayed around the edges and glued in

place using matte medium. photo of my granddad from wwii,

printed onto sticky back canvas and adhered on top of hessian. 

photo edged with uneven hand stitching using blue embroidery thread.

'idea-ology' wire pin secured through stitching.

aged with alcohol ink and attached to wire pin with jump ring.

id tags (dog tags), copied from my granddad's, printed onto card, 

cut out and tied to wire pin with distressed string.

ribbon from above medal, frayed and tied through top of tag.

hallowe'en tag

two headstone shaped tags were cut from grungeboard. rip, date, cracks and outline of 'idea-ology' locket keys - keyhole, cut from one tag, this tag was then glued on top of the second tag.

'idea-ology' locket keys - keyhole, fixed in place with paper fasteners, then the whole tag was stippled with 'golden' light moulding paste.

the tag was then sponged with orange and purple acrylic paint.
the low points were accentuated by antiquing* with black acrylic paint mixed with 'golden' retarder. the high points were highlighted by drybrushing with white acrylic paint.

a grass boarder was cut from core-dinations, distressed and glued to the bottom of the tag. the whole tag was then spritzed with 'cosmic shimmer' dark bronze and decorated with fibre spiderweb.

two bats were cut from grungeboard and painted with black acrylic paint. 'distress stickles' dry glitter rock candy coloured with black alcohol ink was then glued over the paint. finally the bats were fixed in place using glue.

*antiquing is a paint technique used to make something look older. antiquing medium, acrylic paint mixed with retarder or house paint mixed with scumble glaze is applied to an object, then wiped back off leaving a small amount of paint remaining in cracks, crevices or grain, making the item look dirty and used.

steampunk tag

manila tag covered using pieces of 'inkssentials' foil tape sheet and copper tape.  rivet marks made using retractable ball point pen and piercing tool.  tag then coloured over using black, burnt umber and holly 'promarkers'.  surface cut back to metal using steel wool allowing ink to stay in recessed areas.

watch bezel created using a silicone washer covered with copper tape and antiqued as above.  paper fasteners inserted to indicate the hours and bezel glued to tag with 3d glue.

watch movement created using 'idea-ology' mini gears and sprocket gears adhered using matte multi medium.  'idea-ology game spinners used for hands, secured in place with a paper fastener.

individual feathers cut from 'core'dinations' card and sanded on the tips and centre fold.  feathers secured using a paper fastener and fanned out into a wing shape.  wings spritzed using 'cosmic shimmer' silver lustre and glued in place with 3d glue.

'idea-ology' clock key glued to base of timepiece using 3d glue.

'idea-ology' plaquette distressed with 'stazon' timber brown and saddle brown and steel wool, then attached using paper fasteners.

'idea-ology' corner glued to tag, hammered flat then lightly sanded to highlight the pattern.

'tempus fugit' (time flies) printed onto card, cut out, edged with 'distress ink' vintage photo and glued to tag with 3d glue.

mini staples added in various locations to add extra interest.

victorian style lace aged with 'distress ink' vintage photo and tied to top of tag.  'idea-ology' chain tassel and crystal bead attached to wire pin using jump rings and pinned through lace.
