tim holtz - 12 tags of 2014 - march



march tag journal

the tag was created similar to 

dictionary paper was adhered using matte medium.
the pages were prepared with gesso and crackle paste added.
the background was then painted using 'distress paint'
peacock feathers, shaded lilac, squeezed lemon and walnut stain.
stencilling was added on the left using the 
latticework stencil and peacock feathers.

hessian, wood patterned paper and 
manila card decorated with 'tim holtz' wallpaper stamp 
using 'distressed ink' peeled paint, 'stamping' up' 
en français using walnut stain and white stitching, 
were adhered using matte medium.

'alterations' tattered florals cut from canvas and 
'idea-ology' frosted film covered 'clearly for art' modelling film.
canvas coloured with 'distress stain' shaded lilac 
and squeezed lemon and film coloured with 
'hero arts shadow ink' soft lilac and lemon yellow.
'alterations' tattered leaves cut from the frosted modelling film
 and coloured with 'shadow ink' cup o'joe.
flowers and leaves assembled using 'idea-ology' 
custom fasteners and adhered with 3d glue.

crinkle ribbon coloured with 'distress stain' peacock feathers
tied into a bow with some garden twine, also glued in place.

'idea-ology' monocle with a tassel added, 
fixed in place using a paper fastener and wonder tape.
word band highlighted with shaded lilac, attached using 
paper fasteners and philosophy tag highlighted with 
squeezed lemon, attached using a trinket pin.

'scrabble' game pieces copied onto card and 
glued onto grungeboard, adhered to spell 'spring'.
'march' added using 'dymo' tape.

bird, from the same stamp set as used for the tag,
cut out and adhered using foam tape.

tim holtz - 12 tags of 2014 - february



february tag journal

the tag was created in a similar manner as described in
except for the stamping, for which i used
simon says stamp - all about love.

the background was prepared using gesso, then painted using 
distress paint - festive berries and pumice stone.
tim holtz stencils - stripes and doily were used with 
festive berries and black soot respectively.

the following washi tape was added
freckled fawn - chalkboard arrow
doodlebug - hugs and kisses
tim holtz - symphony and elements

hearts cut using lawn fawn - hearts die from dictionary paper 
and black card.  after adhering black pen was used to outline 
the dictionary hearts and chalk was used on the black.

a piece of manila card prepared in the same way as the 
tag background was adhered, along with a distressed photo.
idea-ology - filmstrip ribbon, linen ribbon and leftover 
industrious sticker were added.  word band and locket key were 
fixed using paper fasteners and numerals adhered using foam tape.

buttons from stash were glued in place using glossy accents 
and 'february' was printed using dymo.

tim holtz - 12 tags of 2014 - january



january tag journal

the tag was created in roughly the same way as tim's - 
except using the weathered clock instead of the pocket watch.

dictionary paper was adhered using multi medium.
pages primed with gesso.
pages painted using distress paint - 
pumice stone and evergreen bough.
golden - light moulding paste was added using 
tim holtz stencil - harlequin.

tag was adhered using glossy accents.
linen ribbon and industrious sticker added to edge of page.
discovery word band painted using evergreen bough 
and fixed in place using paper fasteners.

journalling ticket stamped using tim holtz - odds and ends stamp
with 'jan' and '1' highlighted in red.
filmstrip ribbon fixed over 'new year', using mini staple 
and customised type charm with paper fastener.

'2014', 'every' and 'is a' printed using dymo.
'end' cut from foil covered grunge leftover from clock, 
using alterations - word play die.
'new' spelt using alpha parts painted with 
antiqued bronze and evergreen bough.
'beginning' added using stickers from stash.

mini gears and sprocket gears painted to match alpha parts.
distress paint - black soot and antiqued bronze 
used to splatter and make marks using various lids.
